Comer & Beber
The city's most beloved spot for traditional Yucatecan cuisine — try the papadzules and poc chuc.
Refined Mexican cooking in a stunning colonial courtyard. Perfect for a special dinner.
The real Mérida. Grab a marquesita, fresh juice, and cochinita pibil tacos for almost nothing.
Unlikely but beloved — cold beers, live music, and a great crowd on weekend nights.
Boutique hotel bar open to visitors. Craft cocktails and a gorgeous pink colonial facade.
Cafeterías
A Mérida institution on Parque Hidalgo. Sip café de olla under the arches and watch the city wake up.
Specialty coffee, natural light, and a curated playlist. Great for slow mornings.
Charming colonial café with excellent pastries and a shaded patio.
Czech-owned, Yucatecan soul. Excellent espresso and homemade cakes in a quiet street.
Cenotes
Inside the Dzibilchaltún ruins — swim in a sacred Mayan cenote surrounded by ancient structures. 30 min from Hotelito.
Open-air cenote in the town of Valladolid with dramatic stalactites and turquoise water.
The iconic cenote near Chichén Itzá — vines cascading into deep blue water. Unmissable.
Three hidden cenotes reached by horse-drawn cart through henequen fields. A true adventure.
Cultura e Historia
World-class museum tracing 3,000 years of Mayan civilization. A must before visiting any ruins.
Mérida's grand boulevard lined with 19th-century mansions, galleries, and the Anthropology Museum.
One of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas, anchoring the Plaza Grande since 1598.
A 16th-century conquistador palace turned museum — free entry, extraordinary facade.
Excursiones
One of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Go early to beat the crowds — 2.5 hrs from Hotelito.
The most beautiful Mayan site in Yucatán — less crowded than Chichén, architecturally stunning.
The Yellow City — an entire colonial town painted ochre, with a massive convent atop a Mayan pyramid.
Mérida's beach town. Flat, calm Gulf waters, fresh seafood, and a 6km pier. Great for a lazy afternoon.
Flamingo biosphere reserve on the Gulf coast. Boat tours through mangroves at golden hour.
Noches
Every Sunday evening, Plaza Grande fills with traditional Yucatecan folk dancing. Free, magical, unmissable.
Mérida's most atmospheric pedestrian street at night — bars, live music, and street food.
Thursday evenings at Parque Santa Lucía — live trova music and dancing under the stars.
Intimate mezcal bar with an extraordinary selection and knowledgeable staff.
